Steel tubes for foundation of a designated national monument in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel
For a renovation project at 1e Tochtweg in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel, Solines supplied steel tubes from stock and had them fully processed for use in the foundation of the Geertruidahoeve. This characteristic farmhouse, dating back to 1849, is a designated national monument and a recognizable part of the South Holland polder landscape.
For this project, the order consisted of 94 steel tubes with a length of approximately 11.5 meters, sourced directly from stock in Moerdijk. The tubes were then processed by Solines Welding & Construction and prepared for application within the foundation structure. In doing so, Solines handled both the supply and the complete processing of the steel tubes.
The tubes were cut into four sections, resulting in a total of 376 tube segments with lengths of approximately 2 to 3 meters. These segments were subsequently provided with a bell end and fitted with a base plate. These processing steps ensure that the tubes are immediately suitable for use within the foundation system.
The original specification of the tubes is 168.3 x 6.30 mm. In total, this project represents approximately 25.5 tonnes of steel. By combining stock supply with in-house processing, Solines offers an efficient and practical solution for foundation projects in renovation and existing buildings.
The location adds a unique dimension to this project. The Geertruidahoeve at 1e Tochtweg in Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel is a historic farmhouse dating from 1849 and officially designated as a national monument.
