313 steel tubular piles for a noise barrier in Leidschendam
Solines supplied a total of 313 steel tubular piles to Ras Heiwerken for the foundations of a noise barrier in Leidschendam, the Netherlands. Of these, 191 piles were destined for the site shown in the photographs. The remaining 122 piles, with an outside diameter of 406 mm and a wall thickness of 8.00 mm, were supplied for another site a short distance further along the same motorway.
The 191 tubular piles shown in the photographs have an outside diameter of 457 mm and a wall thickness of 12.50 mm. We supplied the tubes cut to the required lengths and fitted with a base plate at the lower end. Both the cutting and the fitting of the base plates were completed before delivery.
An average of 200,000 vehicles pass this construction site every day. Here, the crew installed the tubular piles using an electric piling rig with no on-site exhaust emissions. The rig ran entirely on battery power, with the battery recharged overnight ready for the next working day.
After installing the tubular piles, Ras Heiwerken also completed the pile heads. On behalf of its client, the company fitted the head plates at the top of the piles and carried out the associated welding work.
