Bell-end steel foundation tubes for project in Rotterdam-Zuid
For a foundation project in Rotterdam-Zuid, Solines B.V. supplied approximately 320 meters of bell-end steel foundation tubes for 13 screw piles with a diameter of Ø 168.0 mm. The tubes were used to support an existing residential property that originally had no deep foundation. The foundation work was carried out by SNL Schroefpalen B.V..
Due to the limited headroom in the basement, segments of 1.68 meters were selected. These steel tube sections were individually installed into the ground. Once a segment had been fully installed, the next section was welded on top, after which the foundation pile was advanced further into the ground. This process was repeated until the screw piles reached a depth of approximately 17 meters.
Solines Welding & Construction handled the forming of the bell ends on the steel tubes. Thanks to the bell-end connection, the segments fit together precisely, allowing the foundation piles to be assembled efficiently during installation. The tubes were supplied according to project specifications and tailored to the limited clearance height of the project.
By using compact machinery, the work could be carried out within the existing building structure without causing heavy vibrations or excessive noise. As a result, screw piles are an ideal solution for foundation work in hard-to-reach locations and projects with limited working space.
