New automation improves custom processing of steel tubes

At Solines BV in Moerdijk, we continuously invest in improving our internal processes. By applying smart automation, we make our operations more efficient, transparent, and easier to manage. This morning, our production colleagues received a brief introduction to a new development that further automates the custom processing of steel tubes. With this step, we are taking another important move towards further digitalization and process optimization within our organization.

In the past, several operations were still handled using paper-based lists, and orders had to be entered into the system manually. This took extra time and increased the risk of administrative mistakes. Thanks to this new automation, work orders are now sent directly in digital form to the stations where the required operations are carried out, such as sawing, tromping, beveling, or welding on components such as a drill tip or base plate.

Digital kiosks will be installed at the locations where these custom operations are performed. Seven kiosks will be placed at our Moerdijk site, while two kiosks will be installed at our Dortmund location. These workstations allow employees to immediately see which operations need to be carried out and to process orders quickly and clearly.

As soon as a tube has been processed, the system is updated automatically. Newly added parts are registered immediately and correctly, ensuring that our steel tube inventory always remains up to date. At the same time, the process becomes fully paperless, which significantly reduces the amount of administrative work.

With this improvement, we are taking another step towards a more efficient and future-ready way of working. By further automating the custom processing of steel tubes, we reduce the risk of mistakes, save time, and keep our inventory administration accurate and clear.
