At Solines BV in Moerdijk, we continuously invest in improving our internal processes. By applying smart automation, we make our operations more efficient, transparent, and easier to manage. This morning, our production colleagues received a brief introduction to a new development that further automates the custom processing of steel tubes. With this step, we are taking another important move towards further digitalization and process optimization within our organization.

In the past, several operations were still handled using paper-based lists, and orders had to be entered into the system manually. This took extra time and increased the risk of administrative mistakes. Thanks to this new automation, work orders are now sent directly in digital form to the stations where the required operations are carried out, such as sawing, tromping, beveling, or welding on components such as a drill tip or base plate.

Digital kiosks will be installed at the locations where these custom operations are performed. Seven kiosks will be placed at our Moerdijk site, while two kiosks will be installed at our Dortmund location. These workstations allow employees to immediately see which operations need to be carried out and to process orders quickly and clearly.

As soon as a tube has been processed, the system is updated automatically. Newly added parts are registered immediately and correctly, ensuring that our steel tube inventory always remains up to date. At the same time, the process becomes fully paperless, which significantly reduces the amount of administrative work.

With this improvement, we are taking another step towards a more efficient and future-ready way of working. By further automating the custom processing of steel tubes, we reduce the risk of mistakes, save time, and keep our inventory administration accurate and clear.

This week, winter has made a strong appearance across the Netherlands. At the Solines B.V. site in Moerdijk, snowfall created an impressive winter scene. Despite these conditions, all activities related to the storage and delivery of steel tubes continued as normal.

Thanks to the timely deployment of snowploughs and gritting salt, access roads, loading areas, and work zones were kept clear of snow. This ensured safe working conditions and allowed logistics processes to continue as planned. Solines B.V. places great importance on safety, continuity, and reliability—even during winter weather.

The steel tubes were temporarily covered by a layer of snow, resulting in striking winter images across the Moerdijk site. At the same time, this highlights the robust storage facilities and the consistent availability of materials for projects in industry, infrastructure, and construction.

Over the past few weeks, extensive work has been carried out at our German subsidiary, Solines GmbH, in Dortmund. The site has been thoroughly renovated and expanded, enabling us to serve you even better and more efficiently in the future.

The storage hall now features new, brightly illuminated exterior signage that immediately catches the eye and gives the premises a modern, professional appearance. The entrance totem has also been completely renewed, perfectly matching the fresh, updated look of the location.

In addition, significant progress is being made on an important expansion of our logistics capacity. The concrete foundation for a new gantry crane has already been poured, allowing installation to begin shortly. This expansion will create additional storage space and further optimize logistics operations in Dortmund.

We are proud of the renewed and modern character of our Dortmund facility and look forward to welcoming you soon in this improved environment.

Last Friday, Solines celebrated the official opening of its new SIP facility in Moerdijk. During this event, the modernised machine park was brought into operation, enabling Solines to produce screw injection tubes (SIP tubes) even more efficiently. Amélie had the honour of cutting the ribbon together with her grandparents, marking the official opening.

The celebration continued with colleagues and guests over drinks and snacks. Screw injection tubes are widely used in foundation projects with limited working height and in underpinning existing structures. With the new machines, Solines in Moerdijk can achieve a significantly higher production capacity and respond even better to the growing demand for screw injection tubes — a development we are truly proud of.

Solines supplies steel foundation tubes with welded base plates for piling and foundation applications. A base plate ensures stable transfer of impact energy during piling and prevents the tube from deforming or filling with soil. This allows the tube to be driven straight, accurately and efficiently into the ground.

At Solines Welding & Construction, all base plates are professionally welded by certified welders to the end of the tube. The steel plate acts as an impact surface for the piling hammer and distributes the striking force evenly across the tube end. This promotes stable positioning, extends the tube’s service life and prevents damage during piling.

Once the tube has been driven to the required depth, it is filled with grout, concrete or gravel to further increase the load-bearing capacity and stability of the foundation. The base plate seals the lower end, keeping the tube clean and free from soil contamination during piling.

When greater depths need to be reached, a tromping (conical end) can be applied to the top of the tube. This allows tubes to be quickly and securely connected or extended without loss of energy. The result is a strong, reliable connection suitable for deep and heavy foundation applications.

At Solines B.V., we continue to invest in efficiency, safety, and sustainability. Recently, we added three brand-new forklifts to our fleet, supplied by Helmond Heftrucks from Culemborg.

Two of these powerful new machines are now part of our logistics operations in Moerdijk, where thousands of meters of steel pipe are moved and loaded every day. The third forklift has been delivered to our Dortmund (Germany) branch, where high standards for reliability, agility, and energy efficiency apply as well.

With this expansion, our teams can now work even more safely, efficiently, and sustainably. The modern forklifts offer greater lifting capacity, improved ergonomics, and lower energy consumption — a strong step forward in the ongoing professionalisation of our internal logistics.

Solines is turning 35 – and we celebrated in style! On Friday, June 13th, 2025, we marked a special milestone in our company’s history. Under a radiant sun, colleagues from Solines Netherlands and Solines GmbH gathered at our Moerdijk location for a day filled with fun, connection, and lasting memories.

We kicked things off with a delicious group lunch, where there was plenty of time to catch up. This was followed by an exciting edition of Who is the Mole?, where teams competed in a series of challenges and puzzles. Trust, strategy, and a keen eye were key in this interactive game.

The day ended on a high note with a festive dinner surrounded by our familiar steel pipes – a setting that perfectly reflects who we are: down-to-earth, strong, and rooted in hands-on practice. As the sun set, we enjoyed a lively music quiz where enthusiasm and musical talent went hand in hand.

This anniversary wasn’t just a moment to look back, but also an opportunity to look ahead. With 35 years behind us, Solines continues to build the future – together with our colleagues, customers, and partners.

We would like to inform you about a recent development at Solines BV in Moerdijk. As part of our ongoing efforts to grow and improve, we have started a project to expand our premises. This includes the addition of a new entrance and gate, which represents a practical improvement for our business operations.

In collaboration with Kennis Heiwerken from De Kwakel, six steel tubes have been installed in the first phase of this project. These tubes, with a diameter of Ø 219.1 millimeters and a length of 8 to 9 meters, form the foundation of our new base. A second phase, which will involve the placement of another eight tubes, is planned.

These tubes have been reinforced with concrete for added durability, providing a reliable and solid foundation for our expansion. This approach reflects our focus on quality and sustainability in our business operations.

With this expansion, we aim to improve our efficiency and increase our accessibility for customers and partners. This project is a step in our continuous efforts to enhance our services and facilities.
